Event Contact Phone: (501) 681-4451

Brief Description of Event: The International Wave of Light Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, on the steps of the Arkansas State Capitol at 6:00 p.m. The event was created to ensure that a light or a candle would
remain lit for s full 24 hours around the world in remembrance of babies born too soon

In October of 1988, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the entiremonth of October as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. On September 28, 2006, House Resolution #222 was passed in the House of Representatives supporting the goals and ideas behind Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

A searchlight, which is sponsored every year by Roller Funeral Homes, will illuminate the sky over Little Rock in remembrance of all babies who have died due to miscarriage, stillbirths, neonatal death and other causes.

Representatives from local hospitals and bereavement organizations will be present to provide encouragement and support. The ceremony will begin at 6:30. Linda DeYmaz, best-selling author of Mommy, Please Don’t Cry: There Are No Tears in Heaven, will read from her book during the program. With over 100,000 copies sold to date, her book provides hope and comfort for parents who are grieving the loss of a child.

In the event of rain, or otherwise unsuitable weather, we will move the ceremony indoors to the lobby of the Victory Building, and step outside on their balcony to observe the illumination

There is no charge to attend the event, and all families who have experienced the loss of a baby are invited to remember and honor them.

Brief Description of Event:Please join us for a gathering of remembrance created in honor of my niece, Violet Evelyn Ochoa, who was born still on August 12th, 2011. This event is to honor the babies who were taken too soon from pregnancy or infant loss. We will be meeting at 6:45 to come together, share our stories, and have a candlelight vigil starting at 7:00 pm. We will have luminary bags in memory of our babies and we will be reading the names of the babies we’ve lost. You will also be able to personalize a seashell in memory of your baby to either take home with you or leave along the water.

If you’d like a name added to the list and a luminary bag with your baby’s name you can email me ahead of time at [email protected], message me through the facebook page, or we can always add it before we start.

If you would like a special memory added to our memory wall, please let me know what you would like on that as well, or you can personalize it at the event.

You don’t have to live in Northeast Ohio to participate. Anyone can have a baby honored, no matter where in the worldyou are. We willpost pictures of each luminary bag after the ceremony so that those ofyou who could not attend can still see the luminary bag made for your baby.

This event will be held rain or shine. We will be meeting at the outdoor pavilion in the back of the Senior Center. Please park in the back parking lot nearest to the pavilion. Thank you so much to the Fairport Harbor community for your help in planning Violet’s Light this year, and Chris Yano at the Senior Center. It is an absolute honor for me to plan and hold this event every year, and I look forward to seeing you all on October 15th.

Brief Description of Event: The purpose of this walk of remembrance and awareness is for women and men who may have experienced any form of pregnancy or infant loss to be able to publicly remember their child and for some of them to speak out about their loss. The idea that 1 in 4 women will experience pregnancy or infant loss is so significant that more awareness needs to be made around this topic. We are a community that is so often forgotten about as well as our children. It’s time that we stop being silent and start speaking out and telling the world, I have a baby in heaven and it hurts just like any form of loss.

Join us Saturday, October 12, 2019 for the “Walk of Remembrance: Miles for Margaret, Lydia & All Babies Gone Too Soon.” This Walk will take place to honor babies who have died due to miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, neonatal or infant loss. Everyone is invited to come walk the steps our babies will never take, as we carry them with us in our hearts.

The Walk of Remembrance will take place at Palmetto Islands County Park, starting at the Sweet Gum Shelter. Preceding the walk will be a brief memorial service with music, prayer, and readings. Each baby will be honored by having his or her name read aloud. Participantswill then walk together along a paved trail surrounded by beautifulscenery.

Meaningful remembrance activities will be incorporated throughout the event. Additionally, there will be children’s activities, a cashraffle, and food trucks available for participants who would like topurchase lunch following the walk.

Registration is required for each person who attends the event. You can register with or without a shirt, and you can even register as a Virtual participant with a t-shirt if you are unable to attend in-person.

We will be including the names of our loved and missed babies on the back of the Walk t-shirt at no additional charge. You must email the name of the baby or babies by Sunday, September 22nd. All proceeds from this event will go towards Count the Kicks and their mission to save babies in South Carolina. Count the Kicks is a public health campaign that teaches expectant parents to track their baby’s movements daily during the third trimester of pregnancy.
